How it works
A clear path from disconnected data to trusted reporting.
Working with Dataroot follows four steps. Each has a clear purpose and a tangible deliverable, so you always know where the engagement stands.
- TMS · Transportation Management
- WMS · Warehouse Management
- ERP · Enterprise Resource Planning
- XLS · Spreadsheets & exports
01
Discover
Understand the existing systems, reporting needs, and operational questions.
We map how information flows today: which systems hold which records, which reports are produced by hand, and which questions leadership struggles to answer consistently.
02
Connect
Identify the required sources and establish reliable data flows.
We build the pipelines that move data out of your TMS, WMS, ERP, and other sources on a dependable schedule, with monitoring so problems surface early.
03
Model
Organize, validate, and standardize the data.
We agree on shared definitions, apply validation rules, and shape the data into consistent models that every report and dashboard draws from.
04
Deliver
Create dashboards and automated reporting workflows, then support ongoing improvement.
We deliver dashboards and scheduled reports, hand over documentation, and support the team as questions and systems evolve.

Dashboards and reports
The same numbers, everywhere
01 · Sources
Where your data is created
Transportation management, warehouse management, ERP and finance systems, carrier portals, and the spreadsheets teams maintain to fill the gaps. Each holds part of the picture, in its own format and on its own schedule.
02 · Pipelines
Moving data reliably
Automated pipelines extract records from each source on a schedule, handle changes and late-arriving data, and load everything into a central place. Monitoring and alerting mean problems surface before anyone opens a report.
03 · Models
Making the numbers agree
Shared definitions for shipments, orders, locations, carriers, and costs are applied once, in one place. Validation rules catch duplicates, gaps, and inconsistencies so the same question gets the same answer everywhere.
04 · Outputs
Reporting people actually use
Dashboards for leadership, operations, and finance, plus scheduled reports delivered where the team already works. Built on the same models, so there is one set of numbers to discuss rather than several to reconcile.
What to expect
Common questions.
- How long does a first engagement take?
- It depends on the number of systems and the reporting scope. We typically begin with a short discovery, then connect an initial set of sources and deliver a first round of trusted reports before expanding. We agree on the plan and milestones with you up front.
- Do we need to replace our TMS, WMS, or ERP?
- No. Dataroot works alongside the systems you already run. The goal is to connect them, not replace them.
- Who needs to be involved on our side?
- Usually an operations or reporting lead who knows the current process, someone with access to the source systems, and the decision-makers who will use the resulting dashboards.
- What happens after delivery?
- You receive documentation for every pipeline and model. We can support ongoing improvements as systems and questions change, or hand over fully to your team.
